Discovery of Malta

DAY 1: Valletta (all day)
Valletta, today is the administrative capital of the archipelago, was built on Mount Sciberras en1565, following the victory of the great siege against the Ottomans, by the Grand Master Jean Parisot de la Valette. We visit the beautiful gardens of Upper Barraca, offering breathtaking views of the Grand Harbour and the Three Cities, Museum of Archaeology, Grand Masters Palace and the magnificent convent church of St. John which houses the tombs inlaid of marble knights. We also visit the palace "La Casa Rocca Piccola" 16th century, followed by a drink in the company of the noble owner (exclusive Costa Group Malta). Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

DAY 2: The city of Mdina (day)
Towards the former capital of Malta, where we visit the Cathedral first. Then, in Rabat, the suburb of Mdina, we visit the Grotto of St. Paul. After lunch, visit the Mosta church which has one of the three largest domes in Europe. Then, towards the Dingli Cliffs for a wonderful panorama before visiting the presidential gardens of St. Anton.

DAY 3: The island of Gozo (day)
We go to cirkawwa, located northwest of the island and will board a ferry to cross. After 20 minutes we arrive on the sister island of Malta, "Gozo". We visit "Ggantija" the oldest prehistoric temple built. As we continue our journey with a visit to a cave where, according to legend, Odysseus was imprisoned for many years by the nymph Calypso, then we visit the Bay Marsalform and the small fishing village of Xlendi, Dwejra Bay, beautiful natural site. Inland sea (where we have the opportunity, with supplement and over time, make small boats) and finally we discover the main walled city of Gozo "Victoria" and its magnificent citadel. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

DAY 4: The Three Cities and Temples (day)
Management also called the Three Cities Region Cottonera after being fortified by the Spanish Grand Master Nicolas Cottoner. This is where the knights settled when they arrived in 1530. Vittoriosa, Cospicua and Senglea are the top three cities built by the Grand Masters of the Order of St John. We will visit the Maritime Museum and the Church of St. Lawrence Victoriosa. Afternoon visit to the temples of Prehistoric Tarxien and Ghar Dalam cave where they found the remains of the first inhabitants of the island (5200 BC).

DAY 5: Naxxar and Ta'Qali (1/2 day)
Towards the village of Naxxar to visit a 18th century noble palace, decorated in the late 19th Joseph Scicluna: Plazzo Parisio. Then we visit the handicraft Ta'Qali village with free time for shopping (jewelry, blown glass, pottery, lace ....).

DAY 6: Blue Grotto and Marsaxlokk (1/2 day)
Heading south on the island to discover the fishing village of Marsaxlokk where there is a typical market every day (the largest being Sunday). Then we visit the site of the Blue Grotto with the possibility of a boat ride if the weather permits (boat not included, LM 2.50).

DAY 1: Discovery of Three Cities (1/2 day)
The three cities were built by the Grand Masters of the Order of St. John and fortified by the Grand Master Nicholas Cottoner Spanish in the 17th century. DAY 3: Mdina and Rabat (1/2 day)
Mdina, formerly called Melita, is the former capital of Malta, originally built by the Romans, 200 years before christ, Mdina shaped over the centuries is now an architectural jewel known as "The City of silence. " We will walk through the streets lined with sumptuous palaces and visit the beautiful Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul, built on the spot where St. Paul had converted to Christianity. The Roman governor Publius, who later became the first bishop of Malta. We leave Rabat and Mdina to visit the Catacombs and Roman villa dating from the 2nd and 3rd centuries after Jesus Christ. DAY 4: The island of Gozo (full day)

DAY 5: Palazzo Parisio and round ports (all day)

DAY 6: The Blue Grotto and prehistoric temples (all day)
We visit the prehistoric temples of Tarxien and Hagar Qim, the first buildings dating from 3600 years before Christ, a remnant still standing, almost unique in the world. We will discover the cave of Ghar Dalam, discovered in 1865, home of stalactites and stalagmites and fossilized traces of elephants and hippos. We will then in the Birzebbugia Bay on the site of Blue Grotto and ship, if time permits, edge of glorious fishing boats to admire the colour "blue" one sea to the inside the cave.
